Being a family a fruit fans, breakfast in hotels has never been a problem for us during travel, but lunch and dinner were tough. Vegetarian food out of India is still a challenge, so when we took G for the first time to Malaysia, we were worried what would we be able to feed him other than bread and fruits.
I had carried little rice from India with hope that the hotel may have an oven, The place we stayed did not have an oven but the sunway mall was so huge that we could find everything to buy except for Vegetarian food :-)
So the day we reached we purchased an electric cooker for 40 Rigntts (around Inr 650) from one of the shops in the mall. The section under this includes all that I have made with this elegant, all in one rice cooker.
Vegetable Rice Pulav:
- Carrots 1cup cut into small cubes
- Beans 1 cup cut into small cubes
- Onions - 2 small , I cut them long
- Raw Rice 1 cup (Basmati rice enhances the taste further)
- 2 cups of water
- Salt to taste
Method:
When we travel we will have only minimum ingredients for cooking
A normal pulav will be much different cooking with all the coconut grinding and Spices in them
This one is a simple easy to cook and good for travel food
Add all the ingredients to the rice cooker, add salt to taste and switch it on.
Occasional stirring is all you need to do. Once the rice is cooked garnish with coriander leaves if you like. If you have pickle or chips serve them along and you have a sumptuous meal for a family of 3.
